Instructor-led training is one of the most direct, effective ways of increasing worker knowledge and skills.

A lasting experience that transfers back to the job happens when relevant content, the opportunity for review and practice, peer interaction, and exceptional support materials combine during the training experience.

PeopleBright uses proven curriculum design methods to develop:

  • Participant Guides
  • Instructor Guides
  • Presentation Media
  • Online Activities
  • Job Aids
  • Quick Reference Guides

We use exclusive online collaboration tools to enable team members to work together world-wide to build training programs.  Every step is developed and shared online by subject matter experts, trainers and management.  This real-time development method enables contributors to work on the project, view samples and participate in reviews whenever needed.

In addition to using Microsoft Project to communicate project phases, deadlines, outputs and roles, PeopleBright uses a 4-step development model:

  • Analyze - 1) prove the business case, 2) determine general program requirements and constraints, and 3) determine learning objectives/conduct a specific job-task analysis if needed.  Some upfront questions are listed on Planning to Conduct a Needs Analysis.

  • Design and Develop - 1) determine delivery media and methods, 2) customize/create learning content, and 3) pilot test.  The most critical event in training design is determining the behaviors and outcomes to be attained as a result of the training.  Selecting activities that best deliver the expected learning is a somewhat easier task - a simple list of training activities is found on A Short List of Learning Activities.

  • Deliver - 1) qualify instructors or delivery medium, 2) schedule training, and 3) conduct learning.  The learning environment, employee receptiveness, and content quality contribute to positive outcomes.  A good instructor minimizes minor distractions, but a great instructor enhances the learning experience at every opportunity.  See Instructor Skills Inventory for a checklist of instructor qualifications.

  • Evaluate - Evaluation assures developers, trainers and management the training strategy has produced the intended outcomes.  It can take place during training to assess content and delivery, and after training to assess learning.  For more information see A Training Evaluation Primer.
